Some of NC needs More than a GOOD deal

Amazon Prime Day is a great time to snag deals, and while the sales end today, I can’t help but acknowledge the conflict I am struggling with. I know Prime Deals can be something to get excited about but the heartbreak happening in North Carolina has my mind elsewhere.

As many of you know, I was able to head to my hometown of Statesville, NC to help at the Statesville Airport last week. One of my least favorite jobs is breaking down boxes- funny how the day we arrived that's what they needed- so I used my Beautycounter keychain and broke down boxes in the sun for 3 hours with one of my dearest friends growing up, Jamie. My entire perspective shifted. I have NEVER be so thankful to break down Amazon boxes. Those boxes held crucial supplies that our neighbors desperately needed. The next 2 days, I was working at the medical table sorting meds and packing emergency boxes for specific areas that our planes and helicopters were flying into. The stories I heard and the boxes we had to urgently pack specific to our hurting Americans really got to my heart.

So while shopping Amazon Deals is fun, there’s a real heaviness in my heart for the families affected by this devastating storm across all the states affected. However, you can do some good while shopping too. 

I wanted to share some of my top picks for Prime Day, but I also ask that you consider giving back to disaster relief efforts if you’re able. Even a small donation can make a huge difference for families trying to rebuild their lives.

• Everyone 3-1 Kids Soap  This is a soap I purchase frequently and do use them in our rentals but also for baby gifts, especially when there is another toddler in the home.

If you're taking advantage of Prime Day today, that's awesome- the deals are good. But try to remember & pray for the people who need more than just deals today. Seriously, if you are a prayer- STOP right now and pray. Pray for your fellow Americans in the NC & TN mountains who still haven't been reached but could still be alive, pray for the kids searching for their parents, pray for the frontline workers recovering bodies that are starting to decompose, pray for ALL the volunteers, and most of all the people who may have lost family members and are going at this ALONE with NOTHING. Pray that everyone feels the presense of the Lord in the midst of this horror.
